Why Should You Join Troop 218?
EVERYONE IS WELCOME
We are comprised of both a Male (218) and Female(218G) Troop. Both Troops work together on many meetings and outings but are two very separate Troops.
Troop 218 is extremely active. We have regular meetings, we camp as much as possible, Hike, Canoe, attend a week-long camp each summer, conduct regular merit badge classes, and are always on the lookout for things to do.
ACTIVITIES. ACTIVITIES. ACTIVITIES.
Troop 218 is a scout lead Troop. This means that the scouts plan their meetings, outings, meals, and adventures. Scouts leading Scouts is our goal. Scouts are closely monitored and supervised by great parent leaders, but most decisions are voted on by the scouts.
LEADERSHIP.
In the last year, even in the pandemic, we have done these things:
Week-long Summer camp
Rock Climbing
Camping
Hiking
Shooting
Sledding
Fishing
Flying in planes for aviation merit badges
Scuba Diving
Canoeing
Community service projects
We Have Fun!!!
Our Commitment to the Scouting Way
Our Commitment to the Scouting Way - Troop 218 is not an unfocused effort or crazy through back Troop. It is a Scouting unit solely dedicated to its Scouts. Sure, the adults have fun, but our focus is and always will be the Scouts. In Troop 218 we remain committed to teaching the values of the Scout Oath and Law through:
Teaching leadership with increasing levels of responsibility
Teaching self-reliance through outdoor activity
Building confidence and self esteem through challenge and encouragement
Teaching people skills via coaching and constant interaction with other scouts and adults
Teaching responsibility through peer run events
